Getting Started

Setting up your account

Creating an account

Open the app and tap Create account. Enter your email address and choose a password (at least 8 characters).

After tapping Create account, you'll receive a confirmation email. Tap the link in that email to verify your address, then return to the app to continue.

Logging in

Tap Log in, enter your email and password, then tap Log in again. If you have biometric authentication enabled on your device, subsequent logins can use Face ID or fingerprint.

Forgotten password

On the login screen, tap Forgot password?. Enter your email address and tap Send reset link. Check your inbox for an email from FitSum and follow the link to choose a new password. The reset link expires after 24 hours.

Onboarding: choosing your goal

When you first sign in, you'll be guided through a short setup. The most important step is picking a goal.

The five goals

GoalBest for
Balanced FitnessStaying capable, healthy, and looking good. Mixes strength and cardio roughly equally.
Cardio FocusBuilding endurance — running, cycling, swimming, or similar. Higher weekly activity target.
Strength FocusGetting stronger and building muscle with an emphasis on lifting heavier over time.
Build Muscle & PhysiqueMuscle growth and body composition. Higher rep ranges and more volume than Strength Focus.
Health & LongevityStaying mobile and active as you age. Shorter sessions, more balance and flexibility work. Movement break reminders on by default.

Selecting a goal sets your initial weekly activity point target, training day targets, fitness area allocation, and session length defaults — all of which you can adjust later.

Setting up your training

The next screen asks three things:

  • Experience level — Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. This affects where the coaching engine starts you. It updates quickly based on your actual performance regardless of what you pick here.
  • Training days per week — how many days you plan to train each week.
  • Equipment access — choose the option that best matches where you train. This filters the routines and exercises suggested to you.

Tap Done to confirm. The app applies your goal defaults and takes you to the main screen.

Changing your goal later

You can review and update your goal at any time from the Goal Check-in in Training Settings (reachable from the Workout screen). A goal check-in card also appears automatically on the Workout screen on your birthday each year.

Completing your profile

A complete profile improves the accuracy of calorie estimates and ensures coaching targets are appropriate for you. You'll be prompted to complete missing fields if anything important is blank.

Fields that matter most

  • Date of birth — used for age-adjusted calorie calculations and coaching safety limits.
  • Body weight — used in calorie estimates. Weight is tracked as a body measurement on the Progress → Body tab, not stored on your profile directly. Update it whenever your weight changes meaningfully; you don't need to log it daily unless you want to track it as a measurement.
  • Sex — used in some calorie calculation paths (for example VO2max estimation). It is not used in heart-rate zone estimation, which is based on your maximum heart rate (derived from your age). Select the option that best reflects your physiology, or leave it unset if you prefer.

Editing your profile

Go to Profile → Edit Profile at any time to update your name, date of birth, or sex. Body weight is logged as a measurement — add or update it from the Progress → Body tab.

Understanding the main tabs

The app has four main tabs at the bottom of the screen.

Workout tab

Your starting point each day. Shows today's plan, today's adjustments, workout recommendations, and a log of recent workouts. Everything to do with starting, logging, and reviewing workouts lives here.

Progress tab

Tracks everything over time: activity points, step count, movement break compliance, body measurements, progress photos, and exercise history. Split into four sub-tabs: Activity, Goals, Charts, and Body.

Plan tab

Your exercise, equipment, and routines library. Browse and filter the exercise catalog, manage your equipment list, and build or start routines. This is the same set of tools covered in Exercises, Equipment & Routines.

Profile tab

Account settings, training preferences, equipment, health platform connections, heart rate monitor setup, notifications, and subscription.
