Overview
FitSum's home screen widget gives you a quick summary of your daily activity without opening the app. It shows a combination of:
(Separately, while a workout is in progress FitSum shows your session on the lock screen / Dynamic Island — that workout-time Live Activity and its controls are covered in Workouts → Lock-screen controls & Live Activity, not here.)
- Activity Points weekly progress (outer ring)
- Movement Breaks daily compliance (inner ring)
- Build Targets status (coloured dots)
- Steps progress (bar)
- Calories burned today
You can customise which sections appear and set the visual theme.
Adding the widget
iOS
- Long-press your home screen until icons jiggle.
- Tap the + button in the top left.
- Search for FitSum and select the widget.
- Choose a size (medium or large recommended for the full layout).
- Tap Add Widget.
Widget appearance is configured inside the FitSum app at Profile → Widget Settings.
Android
- Long-press your home screen.
- Tap Widgets.
- Find FitSum in the list and drag the widget to your home screen.
- Long-press the widget on your home screen to configure it (each widget has its own settings on Android).
Configuring the widget (iOS)
Go to Profile → Widget Settings on iOS.
Section toggles
Turn each section on or off:
| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Activity Points (ring) | Weekly Points progress as an outer ring |
| Movement Breaks (inner ring) | Today's hourly compliance as an inner ring |
| Build Targets (dots) | Small coloured dots indicating training load per exercise type |

Theme
Choose Dark, Light, or Transparent.
- Dark — Dark slate background; best on home screens with dark wallpapers
- Light — White/light grey background; best on bright wallpapers
- Transparent — No background; the widget blends into your wallpaper
Tap Save to apply changes. The widget updates within a few seconds.
Configuring the widget (Android)
Long-press the FitSum widget on your home screen and tap Configure (the option label varies by launcher).
The same section toggles and theme options are available as on iOS, but are accessed per-widget rather than in a central settings screen.
Widget refresh
The widget refreshes automatically approximately every 30 minutes on iOS (this is a system-level limit; apps cannot force more frequent refreshes). On Android, the refresh interval depends on your device's battery optimisation settings.
To force an immediate refresh, open FitSum briefly and return to your home screen. The widget updates when the app becomes active.
Troubleshooting
Widget shows outdated data
Open FitSum and wait a moment, then return to your home screen. If the data is still stale, try removing and re-adding the widget.
Widget shows "—" or empty sections
- Check that the section is toggled on in Widget Settings
- Ensure FitSum has the necessary permissions (steps, activity, etc.)
- On iOS, make sure FitSum is not being killed by low-power mode or aggressive battery optimisation
